Congratulations to Sam Muller who won
the 2003 3CV Survivor Camp and went home with over $300 worth of
prizes!!!

There can be only one ULTIMATE
SURVIVOR!
In the September school holiday 3rd Croydon
Venturers held their annual "3CV Survivor Camp". The camp
is based on the hit reality TV show - 'SURVIVOR' and is open for
a limited number of Scouts and Guides from all over Victoria. This
year the 3CV Survivor Camp was proudly sponsored by Aussie Disposals
and Flash Images.
Challenge Valley, get on
over those walls!
|
We try to restrict the amount
of competitors that come from each scout or guide group and
in doing so every participant is guaranteed to make new friends.
In this years Camp we had competitors from Croydon, Upwey, Donvale,
Maroondah, Kallista, Diamond Creek and Mooroolbark. |
| The camp ran for 5 nights
from September 29th til October 4th at Clifford Park Scout Activity
Park in Wonga Park (in Eastern Melbourne). The camp cost $80
which covered all camp fees and food as well as extras such
as a team bandana and some of the prizes that we couldn't get
donated. |

Tribal Council; will your torch stay alight or will you be
evicted?
|
The participants
started off the camp by being split into two tribes, Kekoa (which
is Hawaiian for brave and courageous) and Ikaika (which is Hawaiian
for strong and powerful). In these tribes the participants competed
in a range of different challenges including relays, construction,
puzzles, quizzes and endurance challenges. The challenges were
under one of two categories - Reward or Immunity. In Reward
challenges tribes competed against each other to win luxury
food items to improve their meals and in Immunity challenges
tribes competed for the Immunity Idol. The team that won the
Idol in an Immunity challenge was immune from Tribal Council. |
| This year we had a change
in the Voting system. The losing tribe of Immunity Challenges
went to Tribal Council where they voted for two team members
whom they thought should make it into the next round. Every
Tribe member started with the same amount of Eviction Slips
in the Eviction Bucket; when someone received a vote to stay,
one of their Eviction Slips was taken out of the Eviction Bucket.
When the voting finished the remaining Eviction Slips were mixed
around and one was randomly picked out of the Eviction Bucket;
this person was evicted from the tribe. This continued until
only eight Survivors remained and the tribes merged. They then
competed against each other for personal immunity. After the
merger the winner of an Immunity challenge was safe from eviction,
the Survivor in second place got two Eviction Slips in the bucket,
third got three, etc. The Slips were mixed around, another was
picked at random and the evictions continued. One by one the
tribe became smaller until there were only 2 Survivors left
and then the evicted members voted for the overall winner. |
This stuff is actually
pretty good... for gross food!

Gastronomic Delights!
|
The Evicted
members were affectionately dubbed the "Woggles",
a tradition dating back to our first Survivor Camp. Life isn't
all that bad being a Woggle. They were served much better food
(key word served, no cooking needed) and they were still in
the running for prizes, competing against the Survivors. One
such lucky Woggle was Anika from Maroondah Scouts. Anika won
a "Good Charlotte" CD single for a quiz challenge
and most appropriately won a Discman to play it on in our patented
Pole Standing Challenge, setting a tied record of 4hrs 26mins
with Sabrina and Scott. |
| Of course it
wouldn't be called Survivor if there wasn't a fantastic prize
for being the Ultimate Survivor. The overall winner of the camp
received a trophy as well as a spot on the perpetual "3CV
Survivor Shield" and the runner-up also receives a trophy
but wait, there's more!!! This year the runner-up, Sabrina from
Upwey Guides, received a $50 voucher from Aussie Disposals,
our proud sponsor, and first place, Sam Muller from Croydon
Scouts, received a high quality, full length, self-inflating
"Moon-Mat" from Aussie Disposals and a Discman. |
